(Frederick, MD – November 2, 2000) – The first-ever, independent professional
society of Internet appraisers -- the Association of Online Appraisers,
Inc. (AOA) -- announced today that Accredited Appraiser Nancy Bosch,
ISA and Mark Delfs, founder of AppraiseItNet.com have been appointed
to the AOA Board of Directors, joining existing Board Members Andrew
Coleman - eBay Vertical Marketing Director; Kathy Kamnikar, President,
Antique Networking, Inc.; Mark A. Stuart, CEO, ChannelSpace Entertainment,
Inc.; and Barry Friedman, Co-Founder, ChannelSpace Entertainment, Inc.,
and David Maloney, Jr., ISA CAPP - Certified Appraiser and author of "Maloney's
Antiques & Collectibles Resource Directory."
Since a childhood love of antiques and art was instilled by her mother,
Nancy Bosch, an Accredited Member of the ISA, has been interested in
the field of antiques. First as a collector, later as a dealer, Nancy
has been actively involved with buying and selling antiques since 1975.
For many years Nancy co-owned and operated an 8,200 square foot antique
collective in San Anselmo, California and later her own antique shop.
She has extensive experience in the areas of American and European Furniture,
Decorative Arts, Fine Art, Appreciable Residential Contents and Collectibles.
She is an active appraiser in the San Francisco area.
Mark Delfs is President and Cofounder of AppraiseItNet.com, Inc., a leading online
appraisal management company with a network of over 130 professional appraisers
throughout North America.
Mark also serves as a Principal,
Vice President & Director of Marketing
for a leading $400 million Chicago based money
management company serving high net-worth individuals
and corporations.
"Nancy and Mark bring a wealth of practical appraising, Internet and financial
management experience to the table. They are a welcome addition to the AOA Board
of Directors," said founding President Mark Stuart. The non-profit Association
of Online Appraisers has a two-fold mission, according to Mr. Stuart. The first
is to promote professionalism and ethical conduct in online appraising by helping
its member appraisers gain the necessary training and knowledge. The second is
to provide the public with a benchmark by which to gauge the professionalism
of the online appraiser's work product. "By bringing all online appraisers under
one professional umbrella of ethics and conduct, we help make the Internet a
more convenient and professional place to do business,” Stuart said.
The AOA acts as an industry watchdog, alerting members to emerging issues
concerning online appraisal practices, promoting interchange between
the public and members, providing education, and establishing a codified
set of standards to be used in all online appraisals. The AOA now offers
an online course for the personal property appraiser. The course is free
to AOA members and available as well to non-members for a nominal charge. "The
Complete Online Course in Personal Property Appraising has it all," says
course author David Maloney. "Included in the 350 web-page, fully hyper-linked
course are terminology, theory, principles, USPAP, how to write appraisals,
even sample appraisals and descriptions as well as 100+ hot web sites
for appraisers," he said.
Regular Membership in the AOA is open to any individual or group offering
online appraisals, including appraisal practitioners, appraisal management
companies, educators and related organizations. Sponsoring Memberships
are also offered for non-appraising individuals or companies who support
the precepts of the AOA.
